Action Research Goals and Vision

The vision and goals for my Action Research Project are
School Vision: Create and nurture a campus culture that embraces technology as an effective way to increase student achievement.
Goal: Provide teachers with training to learn how to integrate technology into the required and enrichment curriculum.

Week 2

This week I visited with my site supervisor to choose my topic for action research. I am excited about the topic; I think it will help teachers in our district as we begin several new technology implementations. We want to make sure that technology itself is not the sole purpose for the training. Teachers must interweave technology and curriculum to maximize the benefits for their students. Technology enriches learning, but for classroom teachers it should not be the major focus. The use of technology should make it possible for the student to be a more active participant in learning and make learning more meaningful. I hope our training helps make that possible.

Action Research-What I Have Learned So Far

Action research can be very valuable in the educational setting. Administrators can use action research strategies to help pinpoint problems and work toward effective solutions. The inquiry process encourages a critical reflection of their work thereby allowing them to be more unbiased in judging and assessing the process as well as the results. The process is systematic and includes steps for approaching the problem logically and methodically. It is cyclical in nature, allowing for ongoing modification and renewed action when necessary. Focusing on essential data is an important part of the process. Administrators must be able to look at the vast amount of data and determine which data is essential. They also must reflect on the learning process and assess this process throughout the research project.

I feel that this practice is an important one for educators to learn about and use. It encourages collaboration with colleagues. It also can help the administrator to fulfill the role of a lifelong learner and model this behavior for faculty, staff, and students. I think administrators should consider using research action projects for themselves and also as professional development opportunities for their teachers. Teachers will benefit from this approach and can adjust their teaching strategies to encourage student success. Administrators should definitely learn to use the inquiry process to help with problem-solving and decision-making.



Blogs are another excellent tool for administrators to learn about and utilize. A blog can allow an administrator to share information with his or her stakeholders. It also allows the stakeholders to interact through comments on the blog. This form of communication can help the administrator reach a greater audience than he or she might be able to do with more traditional newsletters.
